Just before Thanksgiving 2022 we headed out west to visit another great Texas State Park. Lake Colorado City State Park is on the banks of Lake Colorado City.

What we noticed on the ground
Just before Thanksgiving 2022 we headed out west to visit another great Texas State Park. Lake Colorado City State Park is on the banks of Lake Colorado City. This lake was originally constructed to serve three different needs, the first was a water supply for an electrical generation plane, next was a municipal water supply and lastly recreation. Now the only purpose the lake serves is recreation. Located just south of Colorado City and I 20 Lake Colorado City State Parks makes an excellent way point stop if you are traveling through west Texas. I was most impressed by the cabins that are available for rental. The cabins were built in the 1980s and are very well constructed with cement blocks and stone. A most solid construction! As with most Texas lakes that I visited in 2022 Lake Colorado City was very low due to drought conditions. I am happy to report that even with the lake level so very low the boat ramp is still avail for use, but the same cannot be said for the fishing barge and one of the fishing docks both of which have been demolished.
