What we noticed on the ground
Right smack dab in the middle of the Big Thicket National Preserve is a neat little Texas State Park, Village Creek State Park. Situated on the banks of Village Creek this Texas State Park is truly one of a kind! Village Creek State Park only has about 20 RV sites and 30 or so walk in tent sites so plan ahead for your visit and make reservations! We really enjoyed our two day visit to this park thanks to having a very nice handicap friendly RV site. There are a number of hiking trails in Village Creek State Park but unfortunately none of them are handicap scooter friendly. The trails are mostly through the sandy bottom land and it was difficult for my scooter to get any traction. While we were camping at Village Creek State Park we went on a short drive up to the Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor center as well as visited two handicap accessible trails.
