In early June of 2021 I loaded up the Thor Magnitude and headed west to visit the Fort Griffin State Historical State and spend a few days RV camping and exploring the history of the area.

What we noticed on the ground
In early June of 2021 I loaded up the Thor Magnitude and headed west to visit the Fort Griffin State Historical State and spend a few days RV camping and exploring the history of the area. The Fort Griffin State Historical Site is an excellent example of the calvary forts from the 1850's. Most of the building of Fort Griffin were constructed from green lumber and canvas so they did not last very long, but there are a few buildings and ruins that were build from stone that have lasted the test of time. Reconstructed by the CCC in the 1930's Fort Griffin was operated as a Texas State Park. In 2008 the park was turned over to the Texas Historical Commission and thus became the Fort Griffin State Historical Site. The facility is pretty much unchanged since the transition. The campsite is a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing and exploring so come along with me as I explore The Fort Griffin State Historical Site.
