What we noticed on the ground
San Felipe de Austin is/was the first town in Stephen F. Austin's first colony. But what happened to this town? If this was the first capitol of Texas why is it virtually unknown! The Texas Historical Commission has done an excellent job of telling the many-fold story of San Felipe de Austin, from the agreement with Spain all the way to the burning during the Runaway Scrape. For many years the site was really only a couple of monuments and a couple of small building, Now days San Felipe de Austin is now properly identified and commemorated with a stunning and modern museum. Come along with me as I explore this great piece of Texas History, San Felipe de Austin
