What to check when buying one used
General used-RV checks for a toy hauler:
- Apply the relevant travel trailer, fifth wheel, or motorhome checks for its underlying RV type.
- Inspect the garage floor, ramp, hinges, cables or springs, and surrounding structure for damage or repairs.
- Verify documented ramp, garage, and tie-down load limits for the equipment you intend to carry.
- Have tie-down anchors and their mounting structure inspected for damage or loose attachments.
- Check garage seals, ventilation equipment, and the separation between cargo and living areas.
- If fitted, have the fuel station, generator, associated wiring, and fuel lines inspected by qualified technicians.
- Verify loaded weight distribution and axle limits with cargo aboard; check operation of any movable beds or seating.
