What to check when buying one used
General used-RV checks for a class c:
- Review chassis and drivetrain service records; arrange a mechanical inspection and road test.
- Inspect the cab-over area, roof seams, windows, walls, and floors for water intrusion or previous repairs.
- Check tire condition, tire date codes, brakes, steering, and suspension with a qualified technician.
- Have house electrical equipment, charging systems, and any generator inspected.
- Have plumbing, propane, appliances, and safety alarms inspected by a qualified RV technician.
- Operate entry steps, doors, and any slides or awnings; inspect seals and accessible surrounding floors.
- Compare actual loaded weights with axle and vehicle ratings; verify any planned towing setup separately.
